September- Sage

A sacred herb that has been part of Rooted since the beginning.

This perennial can live for many years if protected form harsh winter. Sage grows best in full sun, with well drained soil enriched with compost.

A mature plant reaches a circular shape of about 2 feet with beautiful blue/green and sometimes turquoise foliage. Sage flowers in early summer with purple/mauve or white blooms.

Energetically, Sage is believed to cleanse a space or environment of negative energy, while generating wisdom, clarity, and healing. Sage can be burned (also known as smudging) to cleanse your energy and your home. The aromatic leaves and woody stems have an earthy, floral fragrance that create an uplifting and clean smell.

Sage can also be used in cooking, medicines, essential oils, floral decor, and teas.

We grow many patches of common sage, and like to collect the fresh and dried leaves to create arrangements. We also share the sage with those who connect with it an need its properties.
